If someone swears "undying love", does that mean that the possibility that love dies actually exists? But that is not the point, is it? The question is, in this day and age where denial and delusion are so rampant, how does one know if ones love for another has truly died, like flames on a birthday cake forever extinguished?

There are so many possibilities; so many they point us to too many possible answers.

Does your love still exist because you still pick up his calls always, because you enjoy the casual chemistry that remains between the both of you?
Does it not exist because your conversations now are no longer about your shared dreams and ideals but about the random happenings of your separate lives?

Does your love still exist because of that comfortable friendship/partnership that you now share?
Does it not exist because it no longer is a passionate affair between hot-blooded lovers but arrangements to meet for coffee that will may never quite come into realisation?

Does your love still exist because you dreamt of him last night?
Does it not exist because you dreamt that although you became lovers again, the dream fell short of the imgage of that idealised couple you envisioned yourself to become?

Does your love still exist simply because of it used to?
But then again, it used to exist, no?
